      10 is extracted from the bacterial cell by conventional extraction technique such as ethanol extraction, etc., and fractionated and purified to obtain the objective substance.

    • PURPOSE: To prepare naphthoquinone pigment and other useful materials, in large quantities, efficiently, by the callus culture of a plant belonging to Boraginaceae family in a liquid medium having controlled ratio of ammonium ion in the nitrogen source.
      CONSTITUTION: The callus culture of a plant belonging to Boraginaceae family, e.g. Lithospermum erythrorhizon Sieb. et Zucc, is carried out in a liquid medium such as Linsmeier-Skoog medium, etc., which contains a nitrogen source containing ≤10mol%, pref. ≤ about 5mol% of ammonium ions, or esp. a nitrogen source essentially free from ammonium ion.
