    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surface-modified titanium dioxide particulates having excellent dispersibility in a neutral aqueous solvent and stable dispersibility even in a wide range of a pH region and the dispersion thereof and a method for manufacturing the same.
      SOLUTION: The surface-modified titanium dioxide particulates having the excellent dispersibility in the aqueous solvent of not only around the neutral but in the broad pH region and stability and the dispersion thereof are obtained by chemically modifying titanium dioxide and a carboxy group of a hydrophilic polymer by an ester bond. Also, the method for manufacturing the surface-modified titanium dioxide particulates comprises mixing a titanium dioxide particle dispersion of 2 to 200 nm and a water-soluble polymer solution, and ester bonding both by heating to 80 to 220°C, then refining the surface-modified titanium dioxide particulates by removing the unbound water-soluble polymer.
