    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure uninhibited feeling and safety while securing a lower visual field and to improve the visibility of picture while supressing the picture light from a lower outside field from entering into eye by providing the surface of a partial transmission and reflection means opposed to a user with a diffraction optical means and a polarizing means or a louver means. SOLUTION: The light of a picture emitted from a picture display means 1 is reflected on a plane half mirror 5 and a concave half mirror 4 in turn, transmitted through a hologram 6 partially transmitted through the mirror 5 again and made incident on the eye 7 of the user. The light of the picture coming from the outside field is partially transmitted through the mirror 4 and the mirror 5, transmitted through the hologram 6 and made incident on the eye 7 of the user. Therefore, the picture can be observed being superimposed in the front outside field. Then, specified wavelength light 9 among the light 8 made incident from the lower part of the user is reflected in a direction being deviated from the eye 7 by the diffracting action of the hologram 6 and the light 10 other than it is partially reflected, transmitted through the hologram 6 again and made incident on the eye 7.

    • PURPOSE: To make cooling possible without impairing the transmittance of light with a thin type by arranging a cooling panel formed by holding comb tooth-shaped spacers between transparent substrates and packing a cooling liquid into the spacings therebetween on the incident side of a light incident side polarizing plate. CONSTITUTION: This projection type display device has an optical modulation means for modulating incident light and a projection optical means for projecting the light modulated by the optical modulating means. The optical modulation means has a liquid crystal panel and a pair of the polarizing plates arranged on both sides thereof. The cooling panel formed by holding the comb tooth- shaped spacers 55 formed by screen printing and photolithographic method between a pair of the transparent substrates 50, 51 so as to constitute heat dissipation parts larger than the actual display area 56, packing liquid, such as cooling oil or ethylene glycol, into the spacings therebetween and sealing the substrates with sealing members 54, such as epoxy resin, is arranged on the incident side of the light incident side polarizing plate. The comb tooth- shaped spacers 55 are preferably formed alternately in such a manner that the convection in the cooling panel is effected by heat.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the fatigue of eyes by using both eyes to observe one image with small size and light weight so as to make the mount performance stable in the head mount type display device employing a liquid crystal display panel. CONSTITUTION:A LED 106 is a light source comprising one or plural semiconductor chips and emits a single color light or plural color lights. The lights are emitted to the rear side of a liquid crystal display panel 102. A light emission spot of the LED is provided in the vicinity of a focus of a condenser lens 103 and the light is made incident in parallel with the liquid crystal display panel. The image formed on the liquid crystal display panel is formed on a translucent screen 104 through a projection lens 101 proportional to the light transmission intensity. The formed image forms a virtual image onto a retina of human eyes through an eyepiece lens 105 whose diameter is over the width of left and right eyes.
