Even if the second arm 3 is turned to the first arm 2, this wiring-piping means 8 moves in following a movement of the second arm 3, so that any returning direction force will not act on this wiring-piping means 8, thus the wire rod 6 is in no case snapped.

The turning angle shift quantity of the ball spline nut 6 at this time is detected by an encoder 17 for rotary shaft, and a motor 8 for straight advance shaft is turned so that the ball screw nut 3 is revolved by the equal quantity to the detected angular shift quantity. Therefore, even if the ball screw spline shaft 18 is revolved by the revolution of the tool 7, the ball spline shaft 18 is in the standstill state in the axial direction and carries out only revolution. Therefore, the instruction for only in the revolution direction can be executed, independently of the instruction in the straight advance direction.

Next, the motor 30 is stopped, while the shaft 16 is fed to the side of a grinding wheel 35, making a journal air bearing 22 a guide, by a linear motor 26 via thrust air bearings 23a, 23b and thrust bearing parts 24a-24c, and constant pressure buffing takes place. Then, all the machining job is completed upon checkup with a linear scale 34a and a read head 34b. Thus a hard, fragile work can be ground in highly accurate and efficient manners.

CONSTITUTION:A jig 5 fitted with a work 1 is driven for rotation by a motor 17, while a grinding wheel 20 is rotated at high speed by a spindle 21, and the grinding wheel 20 is set in feed motion by a pulse motor 30 via a ball screw 26 and a nut 25 whereby sizing infeed takes place efficiently to the extent that precision finishing allowance by constant pressure infeed is left behind. Next, the pulse motor 30 is stopped, operating a linear motor 16 instead, and a constant thrust is given to a rotary shaft 6 fitted with the work 1 via thrust gaseous bearings 13a, 13b and thrust bearing parts 14a-14c as setting a journal bearing 12 down as a feed guide, whereby precision finish buffing by means of the constant pressure infeed is carried out and checked with length measuring machines 32a, 32b and a measuring instrument 19. Thus, and air bearing slide table is made to be unnecessary and, what is more, highly accurate, efficient finishing is performable.

Even if the cooling path is blocked, a fixed ring 21 and a protective sleeve 19 are detached to tear off the heat-shrinkage tube so that the cooling path can be easily cleaned. As restoration is easy, city water and industrial water can be used as a cooling medium.
