    • PURPOSE:To form high performance modules in small size and compactness by expanding the effective areas of elements at both ends more than those of others, among solar battery elements in series connection. CONSTITUTION:The solar battery elements 20 at both ends are enlarged in the effective area by being lengthened by a+t more than the width l of the other elements 11. Where, the sign (a) represents the thickness of a case frame 12, and the sign (t) represents the width of a superposition part 13 of the frame 12 and the element 20. When the surface of the element is irradiated, the part of the width a+t is shielded. Since an actual light source is strong in directivity, the decrease of an output is alleviated more or less. However, the decrease of the output of these both end elements restrains the characteristic of the other elements, thus causing the decrease of the output. By this constitution, the decrease of the output is compensated by enlarging the effective area of the element 20 by (a+t), therefore the decrease of the performance of a module due to the shielding of incident light does not generate, and then a compact and high performance device can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a temperature rise by a method wherein when a solar battery element is housed in a metallic case and enclosed with transparent resin to make a battery, covering with a transparent resin plate or a glass plate, a nitrided boron layer is interposed between the element and the metallic case. CONSTITUTION:A silicon rubber sheet 5 for radiating heat is laid in a top-opened metallic case which is provided with radiating fins on the reverse side, and a solar battery element is arranged thereon. Then, a transparent silicon resin 3 is filled up within a case 1, and an opened end of the case 1 being a light receiving surface is covered with a cover 4 formed of a guard glass plate or a resin plate to make a battery. in this construction, a nitrided boron plate 6 is additionally interposed between the bottom surface of the case 1 and the rubber sheet 5. Thus, the difference between the temperature of the element 2 and that of the air becomes small and best suited for placing in the outdoor, due to insertion of the boron plate 6 having thermal conductivity as large as 160X10 cal/cm.sec. deg.C.

    • PURPOSE:To realize a solar cell having a high efficiency by heat treating a thin film made of halogenated cadmium compound at a melting point or higher, and forming a CdTe film as a light absorption layer. CONSTITUTION:A CdS film 2 is deposited 1000Angstrom on a substrate 1 at an Ar partial pressure of 5X10 Torr, a board heating temperature of 30 deg.C, a CdCl2 film 3 is vapor-deposited 1000Angstrom on the surface, and treated at 600 deg.C under the atmospheric pressure in an Ar atmosphere. After CdTe paste made of Cd, Te, propylene glycol, etc., is printed, it is dried, and baked at 650 deg.C to form a CdTe film 4. By the similar method, a C film 5 and an Ag/In film 6 are sequentially formed by a screen printing method, and a solar cell is manufactured. Accordingly, even if the film 2 is reduced in thickness, formation of a CdTe1-ySy film can be prevented, and hence the cell having high optical sensitivity and high effective conversion efficiency can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain excellent practicability and long-term storage property in a wide range from a heavy load to a light load by interposing compound material, which is obtained by forming a perovskite type compound oxide thin film on the surface of the porous material having fine holes of which hole diameter is less than 0.1mum, between the air intake side of a gas diffusion electrode and the inner surface of a battery container. CONSTITUTION:In a battery comprising a gas diffusion electrode 1, in which oxygen is used as the active material, and a battery container having an air intake hole 3 communicated with the outside air, a perovskite type compound oxide thin film 11 at a thickness of 0.01-1.0mum, which is formed on a fine porous base material 4 having hole diameters less than 0.1mum, is interposed between the air intake side of the gas diffusion electrode 1 and the inner surface of the battery container. This compound material made of the perovskite type compound oxide thin film 11 has oxygen penetrability required for obtaining the sufficient discharge characteristic under the heavy load condition and transmission stopping power against steam and carbon dioxide for enduring long-term hot insulation and long-term discharge under the lower moisture or high moisture condition. Storage property of a battery, in which alkali aqueous solution and neutral salt aqueous solution are used as electrolyte, and performance in a long-term usage are thereby improved, and sufficient discharge performance under the wide discharge condition from light load to heavy load can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To furnish excellent performance in practical use over the ranges from high to low load, excellent anti-leak performance and long-time storage characteristic by providing a copolymer film of stylene and acrylic ester between the air intake side of a gas dispersion electrode and the inner surface of a cell vessel provided with air intake hole. CONSTITUTION:A cell concerned is equipped with a gas dispersion electrode 1 using oxygen as active substance and a cell vessel 10 provided with an air intake hole 3 leading to the outside air, and a copolymer film 11 of stylene and acrylic ester is interposed as an oxygen selective penetration film between the air intake side of this gas dispersion electrode 1 and the inner surface of the cell vessel 10. This provides satisfactory condition both about the oxygen penetration speed as the one for battery and the effect to shut off water vapor and CO2 gas from the atmosphere. Thereby electrolyte leakage is prevented, and the storage characteristic is improved, and satisfactory discharging characteristic is obtained over the ranges from low to high load.

    • PURPOSE:To charge and accumulate electricity in the secondary batteries and to handle the parasol in exactly the same way as with ordinary parasols by disposing solar batteries having flexibility on the surface of the parasol and disposing secondary batteries connected electrically to the solar batteries at the arbor part of the parasol. CONSTITUTION:A polyimide or polyester film is formed as a base part on a framework 1 and the solar batteries 2 consisting of amorphous Si are installed thereon. Plural pieces of the secondary batteries 3 of a cylindrical type are installed to the arbor 6 part of the parasol. Nickel/cadmium batteries or lead batteries, etc., are respectively usable as the secondary batteries. The parasol with the flexible solar batteries can be produced by connecting the output terminals 4 of the film solar batteries and the output terminals 5 of the secondary batteries by lead wires 7, 8. The integral housing of the solar batteries and the secondary batteries without impairing the functions of the parasol is possible. The parasol which is compact and is easy to handle and carry is thus obtd. This parasol is widely utilizable as a convenient independent power source for leisure.
