    • PURPOSE:To provide high light resistance and chemical stability (weatherability) and to prolong a life by forming a transparent medium of transparent inorg. matter. CONSTITUTION:This light control element is constituted by inserting a liquid crystal layer 1 formed by dispersing a liquid crystal 10 into the transparent medium 11 between a pair of electrodes 2a and 2b which face each other and at least either of which is transparent. The transparent medium 11 of such light control element is the transparent inorg. matter. The transparent inorg. medium is not particularly limited, insofar as the medium is the transparent inorg. matter having high light resistance and chemical stability and is preferably the inorg. matter formed by bringing, for example, metal alkoxide into sol-gel reaction, etc. If the transparent inorg. matter is used as the transparent medium in such a manner, the light resistance and chemical stability (weatherability) of the light control element are enhanced and the life of the light control element is improved as the inorg. matter has generally the high light resistance and chemical stability.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an optical circuit board which is less in crosstalk to be caused by disturbance light and leaked light and excellent in signal transmitting reliability with reduced noise by forming a metallic layer on the outside of the clad layer of a core through which light is transmitted. CONSTITUTION:This optical circuit board 1 is constituted of four layers of a core 4 through which light is transmitted, clad layer (an area which encloses the core and is lower in refraction than the core) 3 of the core 4, a metallic layer 2, and a substrate 1 holding these layers. The metallic layer 2 is formed on the outside of the clad layer 3. Since the metallic layer works as a light reflecting/absorbing layer which reflects and absorb light, the light leaking out from the core 4 hardly goes out from the clad layer 3 and outside light hardly gets into the core 4 through the clad layer 3. In addition, the light of an external light source (a light emitting element or another core) which cannot enter the core 4, but is propagated through the substrate 1 can be blocked by the metallic layer 2. Therefore, crosstalk is prevented, noise is reduced, and the signal transmitting reliability of the circuit is improved.
