    • PURPOSE:To enable maintenance of stable heating and heat application efficiency for a long time by a method wherein a catalyst active component non-carrier layer is formed in the vicinity of the surface on the upstream side of a catalyst layer positioned facing a heat ray transmitting substance, and a heat resisting porous sub stance carrying a catalyst active component is disposed in the vicinity of the surface on the downstream side of the catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:A part A in the vicinity of the surface on the upstream side of a catalyst layer 7 positioned facing a heat ray transmitting substance 8 is a layer not carrying a catalyst activate component, and a part B on the downstream side carries the active component. Thus, under a state in which catalyst combustion is started, combustion reaction is effected at the part B on the downstream side, the part A is heated through transmission or radiation of a reaction heat, and heat is dissipated to an external part in front through the heat ray transmitting substance 8. Reaction at the carrier part B is effected in a position in the vicinity of the non-carrier part A at an initial stage. But, with the progress of a long term use, activation of the part thereof is gradually reduced, and a reaction center position is moved to the downstream side. Since heat is effectively imparted on the non-carrier part A to feed a radiation heat, no influence is exercised to a major degree on a quantity of heat imparted through the heat ray substance 8 and a visual temperature.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate inside odor by installing an insulator around an electric resistance heat generating body, a heat resistant porous layer around its outer periphery, which supports a platinum-based catalyst for an electric heat generating body. CONSTITUTION:When electric power is supplied to an electric resistance heat generating body 12, an insulator 13 provided around the heating element is subjected to high temperature. A heat resistant porous layer 14, which supports platinum-based catalyst 15, is provided around the outside of the insulator 13, which subjects the heat resistant porous layer 14 to high temperature as well and raises the temperature of the platinum-based catalyst 15 up to active temperature. The air, which circulates inside a 'kotatsu' or foot warmer by a centrifugal fan 8, is brought into contact with the platinum-based catalyst 15 when it is passing through the electric heating element 10 so that the catalyst 15 is raised up to the satisfactory active temperature which allows catalysis to be exerted. Therefore, the air which contains the odor inside the foot warmer is cleaned by the catalysis so that the odor may be eliminated. It is, therefore, possible to use the foot warmer for a long time, eliminating body smell from the inside of the foot warmer.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a resistance layer having less variation of resistance values by a method wherein a metallic organic compound is applied as a heat generating resistance body, baked at a temperature not higher than the temperature with which a material of a glaze layer and said compound are mutually dispersed, turned into a film and formed with patterns through wet echoing. CONSTITUTION:A paste of a resistance body is applied through printing on an alumina substrate 11 having a glaze layer 11a (borosilicate glass with a transition temperature of 950 deg.C), baked at 800-750 deg.C, whereby a heat generating resistance layer 13 is formed linearly. The paste is a mixture of fatty acid salt (7 carbons and liquid) of ruthenium, respective fatty acid salts of Pb, B and Si, ethylcellulose and terpineol. The portion of the resistance layer is masked and formed with patterns by a solution of ammonium fluoride and sulfuric acid. After the heat generating resistance layer 13 is formed, a paste of a metallic organic compound is printed and baked (800 deg.C) to obtain an electrode layer 12, 6 layers per mm, through photolithoetching. A glass paste is printed and baked above the electrode layer 12, thereby forming an abrasion- proof layer 14.
