摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a carbon fiber composite metallic material by which reagglomeration of carbon nanofibers can be prevented and also to provide the carbon fiber composite metallic material.
SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the carbon fiber composite metallic material comprises the following steps (a), (b) and (c): a step (a) in which an elastomer, metal particles and carbon nanofibers are mixed and the carbon nanofibers are dispersed into the elastomer by a shear force to prepare a carbon fiber composite material; a step (b) in which the carbon fiber composite material is heat treated and the elastomer contained in the carbon fiber composite material is decomposed and vaporized to prepare a mixture; and a step (c) in which the mixture is rolled to enter at least a part of the carbon nanofibers into the metal and hereby obtain the carbon fiber composite metallic material.

SOLUTION: The metal powder composite has a mesh-shaped coating film made from the fine carbon fiber with a nanometric size on the surface of a metal powder. For instance, the fine carbon fiber with the nanometric size is a carbon nanotube or a carbon nanofiber which has an average fiber diameter of 1 nm to 160 nm, has an aspect ratio of 5 or more and has an oxidized surface thereon; and is dispersed on the surface of the metallic powder having an average primary particle size of 0.1 μm to 100 μm. A metal composite is formed by sintering the metallic powder composite. A stacked metal composite is formed by stacking the metal composite on a substrate surface. The above composites are superior in mechanical strength, electroconductivity and thermal conductivity.

Thereafter, the molten magnesium alloy is repeatedly cast into the metallic mold with the coating layer and before developing the burning after performing plural times of casting operations if desired, the mixture is again applied at least on a part of the surface at the cavity side of the metallic mold and heat treated to form the coating layer stuck to this applied portion. Thereafter, the molten magnesium alloy is repeatedly cast into the metallic mold with this coating layer.
