摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of connection by providing ruggedness in the parts to be respectively fitted to an external housing and an optical connector jack element to prevent rotation. CONSTITUTION:This jack has a projecting part 4c on the inside surface part at the front end of a frame 4 to prevent the forward movement of a sleeve 2. The projecting part 4b is provided together with a step for housing a flange part in the frame so as to prevent the rotation in the notched part of the flange 1a of a ferrule 1. The ferrule is then mounted on an approximately cylindrical holder 5 from behind. The projecting part 5b mating with the outer peripheral slit 4a of the frame 4 is provided in the holder 5. The projecting part 5a mounted in the notched groove 8a provided in an external housing 8 is provided on the other periphery of the holder 5 to prevent the mutual rotation. The rotation is prevented in this way and, therefore, the reproducibility is improved.

The projections 32 of the holder 8 engage with the broad parts 38 of the optical connector body 6 and the disengagement thereof is difficult if the holder 8 is inserted to the optical connector 6 in such a manner that the projections 32 of the holder 8 pass the groove parts 34 for insertion of the optical connector body 6 and if the holder 8 is rotated in the direction where the width of the tapered part of the projections 32 degrease. SOLUTION: The distance from the end face of the holder 3 to the front end 1a of the fiber is defined as L and the distance from the end face of the holder 3 to the polishing surface 2 as d. Next, the holder 3 is brought near to the polishing surface 2 in such a manner that d is made smaller than L. In this state, d is kept constant and the holder 3 is moved on the polishing surface 2 along an orbit 4. Simultaneously, the front end 1a of the optical fiber is also moved along the circular orbit 4. The optical fiber 1 curves always with the direction opposite from the moving direction of the optical fiber 1 and the optical fiber 1 inclines by the suitable angle with the polishing surface near the front end 1a. As a result, only the angle in the corner part of the outer peripheral part comes into contact with the polishing surface 2 and this part is removed.

CONSTITUTION:The housing 8 and an outside holder 1 are fixed and one actuator 2 is pushed and inserted into the outside holder 1. The sleeve holders 31 are removed from the housing 8 and are held by the retreating and resetting of the actuator 2. The actuator 2 is again pushed and inserted into the outside holder 1 to expand the detaining part of the housing 8 by the actuating pawl 27, by which the sleeve holders 31 is released and are inserted into the housing 8 with the front end of the inside holder 4. A mechanism for simultaneous insertion of the actuators 2, 3 consisting of a hollow groove, a recessed part of a planar and approximately triangle shape and a pendulum 56 freely turnably inserted into the recessed part is disposed between both actuator 2 and 3.
