    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector headlight for a vehicle capable of mitigating the light-dark contrast at the boundary line of a light distribution pattern for passing beam and free of generation of a bad effect such as an irregular color, etc. SOLUTION: At the front surface 18a of a condenser lens 18 consists of a flat convex lens, an up-deflecting prism lens element 18s is formed extending in the horizontal direction along the intersection of the front surface 18a with a horizontal plane including the optical axis Ax of a lighting fixture. Thereby the light-dark contrast at the boundary line of a light distribution pattern for passing beam is mitigated by the up facing deflecting bundle of beams which passes the condenser lens 18 and is radiated forward from the lens element 18s. In the neighbouring region of the intersection L on the condenser lens front surface 18a, the reflected light from the reflection surface 14a of a reflector 14 is not incident to the peripheral edge of the condenser lens 18, so that there is no risk that an irregular color is generated in the light distribution pattern by the up facing deflecting bundle of beams radiated forward from the lens element 18s.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a head light for forming a light distribution pattern of an auxiliary light so as to control the light emitted from a discharge bulb by using a plurality of reflection surface elements constituting a reflector surface, and to obtain a required light distribution pattern of an auxiliary light even in a state after aiming adjustment of a reflector. SOLUTION: A group of reflecting surface elements 22As constitutes a horizontal cut line formation region 22A of a reflector surface 22. A horizontal section of a reflecting surface elements 22As1 positioned in an outermost part of the group of the reflecting surface elements 22As is formed in a concave shape. A light distribution pattern PA1 is formed so that light beams reflected from the reflecting surface elements 22As1 cross each other. This performs the left- side aiming adjustment of a reflector 16. When a light beam reflected from a left edge of the reflecting surface element 22As1 is blocked with an extension 28, an original light distribution pattern is changed into a light distribution pattern on which a portion on an oblique cut line side remains, and thereby a hot zone of a light distribution pattern of an auxiliary light is partly constituted.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlight for vehicle equipped with a discharge bulb, with which glaring generated at formation of an aux. light distribution pattern can be reduced without causing obstruction for formation of a cut line. SOLUTION: On the reflection surface 22 of a reflector 16 four outside reflective face elements 22s1 in the oblique cut-line forming region 22A and three outside reflective face elements 22s2 in the horizontal cut-line forming region 22B are given a longitudinal section folded in an aside facing angle shape at the boundaries LA and LB so that the reflected light given from the upper regions 22s1a and 22s2a is set as facing down relatively. Thereby the light distribution pattern formed with the reflected light from the upper regions 22s1a and 22s2a and the stray light pattern formed supplementarily in the neiborhood of its over-part are displaced downward to bring about a reduction of the upward scattered light, and also a vivid cut line is formed with the reflected light given from the lower regions 22s1b and 22s2b.

SOLUTION: Light distributing steps 12aA, 12aB located at the right and left upper corners of the light axis Ax of a reflecting mirror 10 among a plural of light distributing steps 12a constituting a reflecting face 12 are formed to illuminate light flux reflected from upper areas A1, B1 downward of light flux reflected from lower areas A2, B2 with a broken line as a boundary. In this way, if parts of a lighting fixture are insufficient in precision, light flux reflected from the upper areas A1, B1 are prevented from being uncarelessly illuminated upward. The upper areas A1, B1 and the lower areas A2, B2 are formed by using longitudinal light distributing steps 12aA, 12aB so that the subsections of the reflecting face 12 are minimized, level differences between the upper areas A1, B1 and the lower areas A2, B2 are eliminated and no resulting upward scattering occurs.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both formation of sharp cutlines and diffusion of light in the horizontal direction, in the reflector of a vehicular lamp whose width is greater in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction as seen from the front. SOLUTION: This reflector 1 has a front shape that is greater in width in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction, and the area 4 of its reflecting surface 2 which is located above a horizontal plane containing the main optical axis of the reflector 1 is divided into two areas 5, 6 along the vertical direction. The first uppermost area 5 is such that a filament image projected thereby contributes to the formation of cutlines. The second area 6 located immediately below the area 5 is such that a filament image formed thereby contributes to the formation of a pattern of projection that is most diffused in the horizontal direction. The area 9 of the reflecting surface 2 which is below the horizontal plane containing the main optical axis of time reflector 1 is such that the enlargement in the horizontal direction of its pattern of projection is made smaller than that of the pattern of projection formed by the second area 6. A circular hole 3 for inserting an electric bulb is formed across the second area 6 and the area 9 therebelow so as not to affect the first area 5.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlight capable of forming a light distribution superior in visibility of distant area and front area. SOLUTION: The headlight is provided with a discharge bulb V1 having a ceramic arc tube 11A as a light emitting part, in which electrodes 15, 15 are installed in opposition to each other, and a light emitting material or the like is filled, and a reflector 100 which reflection controls light emission of the arc tube 11A, and the cross-section of the arc tube 11A is made long sideways. The size of light source image a projected along the cut-off line CL against the maximum luminance portion a1 becomes slim (narrow in width) and the maximum luminance portion a can be designed to be light distributed so as to approach the cut-line, and a hot zone of light distribution comes closer to the cut-off line, thereby, visibility of distant area is improved. Since the light source image projected on the irradiation region below the cut-off line CL centered around the elbow portion becomes thick (wide in width), and the region in which adjoining light source images a, a are overlapped is increased, thereby, color unevenness and luminous intensity unevenness in light distribution are not conspicuous and visibility of front area is improved.
