    • PURPOSE:To improve the detection efficiency of an explosive substance by irradiating an object of inspection with fast neutrons which are generated periodically as they are and detecting a gamma ray by inelastic scattering reaction only when the fast neutrons are generated periodically. CONSTITUTION:The neutrons generated periodically by a neutron generating device 4 under the control of a control system 10 are projected on the object 3 of inspection, the 2, 3 MeV gamma ray by the inelastic scattering reaction between emitted neutrons and nitrogen in an explosive substance when the object 3 of inspection contains the explosive substance is detected by a gamma ray detection system 5 and a measuring circuit 5a, and a neutron detection system 11 and a measuring circuit 11a measure the amount of the generated neutrons. A data processing system 6 decides the object 3 of inspection from the quantity of the gamma ray measured by the measuring circuit 5a only in the neutron generation under the control of the control system 10 according to the amount of the neutrons measured by the measuring circuit 11a in synchronism with the generation period.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain nuclear fuel body whose fission product gas is less by preliminarily sintering oxide nuclear fuel pellets in the prescribed treating temperature and the H2 gas surrounding, further sintering it in the CO2 environment and reducing and heat-treating it in the H2 gas environment. CONSTITUTION:UO2+x powder of raw material is roughly shaped and granulated granulation powder in which lubricant such as stearic acid zinc is added is compressed into green pellets and the green pellets are charged into a pellet charging chamber 1 from the direction of an arrow mark 4. They are kept for an hour in the temperature of 1,400-1,600 deg.C in the H2 gas environment preliminary sintering area 5 of the chamber 1 to sinter preliminarily. Next, they are passed through a weir 7 by N2 gas curtain and sintered for about 8hr at the same temperature and in CO2 gas environment sintering area 2. Further, they are passed through the weir 7 by N2 gas curtain and heat-treated for about an hour at the same temperature and in H2 gas environment reducing area 6. They are cooled in a cooling and pellet take-out chamber 3, taken out and fed to next process.

This achieves a higher workability without raising any problem in thermal and mechanical nature.
