    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fastening bolt assembling structure having high maintainability by using a rotation locking member capable of necessarily and sufficiently regulating the rotation of a nut with respect to a fastening bolt except the adjustment while an operating physical force (fastening torque) required for rotating operation of a tilt lever can be easily adjusted in not only assembling but also even after being assembled.
      SOLUTION: In the fastening bolt assembling structure, the rotation locking member 41 is mounted to the nut 35 screwed in a male screw part 341 of the fastening bolt 34 projecting from a vehicle body side bracket 21. The rotation locking member 41 is provided with a position regulation piece 413 which is engaged with a bearing spacer 32 elevating with a column side bracket 11 by inserting the fastening bolt 34 into a main body part 412 having a through-hole 411 for the fastening bolt 34, and a rotation regulation piece 414 engaged with the nut 35. The position regulation piece 413 has rigidity, and the rotation regulation piece 414 has elasticity respectively.

      SOLUTION: In the steering column 1, the tilt shaft 21 is provided on a vehicle body side lower bracket 13 and a shaft retaining groove 2 extending in an extending direction of a column jacket 15 is provided on a column side lower bracket 14. The shaft retaining groove 2 comprises a width-enlargement groove 25 and a press-fitting groove 22 continued to the width-enlargement groove 25. The width-enlargement groove constitutes an impact absorption mechanism, i.e., a part where groove width is made narrower than an outer diameter of the tilt shaft 21 at a part where the groove width is gradually enlarged in a range of the outer diameter or less of the tilt shaft 21 in a direction that the tilt shaft 21 is relatively displaced when the width-enlargement groove 25 receives the impact and the column jacket 15 is pushed and the press-fitting groove 22 constituted the impact absorption mechanism at an end of the width-enlargement groove 25, i.e., a displacement starting position of the tilt shaft 21.

      SOLUTION: This steering column 2 comprises a tilt mechanism for connecting a vehicle body side upper bracket 25 fixed on a vehicle side with a column side upper bracket 26 fixed to a column jacket 22 by a fastening bolt 11, and switching a holding condition for fastening the vehicle side upper bracket 25 and the column side upper bracket 26 with the fastening bolt 11 to a release condition for loosening them by a rotary operation of the tilt lever 1 fitted to the fastening bolt 11. In this steering column, a manganese phosphate film is formed on the tilt lever 1 at least at a portion slide-contacting the vehicle side upper bracket 25.
