摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing an aerodynamic sound generated from windbreak cover for a projecting object on the surface of a high-speed traveling body. SOLUTION: The method of reducing aerodynamic sound generated from a windbreak cover (pantagraph cover 7) for a high-speed traveling body (Shinkansen 1) divides an air flow striking the windbreak cover into tiny pieces and passes these pieces by composing the front portion 11 of the windbreak cover of a net-like body 13. By dividing the air flow striking a projecting object into tiny pieces, the spectrum of an aerodynamic sound generated from the projecting object is shifted in a high cycle direction and thus aerodynamic noises (actual sound pressure level) at a human audible level are reduced.

With this structure, the pantograph is lifted smoothly even if the switch for lifting is kept pressed, and then the lifting speed is slowed down by a resistance in discharging air out of the cylinder 6 for lowering and thereby a collector head 1a gently brought into contact with a cable line.

According to this configuration, since in the engagement portion of the ceiling tube 5 with the hook 6 the ball bearing 13 is used for the operation when the hook 6 is engaged with the ceiling tube 5 not to be performed by a sliding friction but to be performed by a rolling friction, the friction of the slid surface of the ceiling tube 5 on the hook 6 is so reduced that the stable engagement operation of the hook 6 with the ceiling tube 5 can be obtained over a long term.
