    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve strength against breakage in tapping or manufacturing a tap by improving the rigidity of a small-diameter tap and dispersing the stress concentration.
      SOLUTION: Since an intermediate shaft part 14 having a medium diameter dimension D
      2 is provided between a working part 16 and a shank 12, while the projection dimension of the working part 16 is secured, the length of a small-diameter working part 16 is reduced to improve the rigidity, and bending deformation in pressing a grinding wheel to grind a male screw 22 is restrained to enhance the strength against breakage. Thus, the yield in manufacture is improved, and the pressing force of the grinding wheel is enlarged to heighten the working efficiency. Since the number of thread ridges of a rise part at the back end of a male screw 22 is set to three, the stress concentration in the rise part 28 is dispersed to enhance the strength against breakage, so that breakage in tapping is restrained in combination with the improvement in rigidity due to the existence of the intermediate shaft part 14 to improve the durability.
