    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of suppressing a domain generated at an electrode end for forming holding capacity and improving display mode efficiency.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a pair of wall-like first electrodes which are formed so as to project from a liquid crystal side surface of a first substrate to a liquid crystal layer side; a linear second electrode which is formed in a pixel display unit held by the pair of first electrodes and is formed along an extension direction of the first electrodes; a first capacity electrode electrically connected to the first electrodes; and a second capacity electrode which is arranged to be superimposed on the first capacity electrode via an insulation film and is electrically connected to the second electrode. Of the capacity electrodes, a side edge portion on a pixel display section side of the first capacity electrode formed on a hierarchy close to the liquid crystal layer is formed to retreat more than a side edge portion on a pixel display section side of the second capacity electrode formed on a hierarchy far from the liquid crystal layer. The liquid crystal display device further includes second convex bodies extending in a lateral direction of the pixels.

The distance between the horizontal electrodes along the first direction, which corresponds to the distance between the main pixel electrode and the main common electrode, is larger than the distance between the vertical electrodes along a third direction orthogonal to the first and second directions, which corresponds to the distance between the main pixel electrode and the main common electrode.
