    • PURPOSE:To aim at preventing wear of the seal so as to secure a long life of a seal as well as achieving a smooth operation of the plunger by designing the seal so as not to slidingly make contact with a cylinder side in a reciprocating operation of a plunger. CONSTITUTION:A plunger 32 is provided with a step portion 35 having a diameter smaller than that of a piston portion 33. The step portion 35 is formed with a groove 36 into which a seal 37 is fitted. When the plunger 32 is rotated by an external force to disengage a male screw portion 38 from a female screw portion 41, the seal 37 is separated from a slide passage 40 to be disposed in a pumping chamber 34 as shown in the right half view of the drawing, thereby permitting the pumping chamber 40 to be communicated with a fuel passage (not shown). Further, the outer circumference of the seal 37 is separated from the inner surface of the pumping chamber 34, and under such a condition when the plunger 32 is manually reciprocated, the pumping chamber 34 is expanded and contracted to conduct a pumping action, wherein since the seal 37 is not in sliding contact with the inner surface of the pumping chamber 34, improvement in a manual operation of the plunger and prevention of wear of the seal may be achieved.

    • PURPOSE:To enable to deform the rubber bellows naturally with an enlarged stroke and reduced stress by a method wherein a piston and a cylinder, which are provided with special configurations and constituted so that the inner peripheral length of the cylinder becomes same as the outer peripheral length of the piston, are utilized. CONSTITUTION:The inner periphery of the cylinder 1 is made so as to have a rectangular form with rounded corners while the outer periphery of the piston 2 is formed so as to be rectangle provided with wavy figures. According to this method, the inner peripheral length of the cylinder 1 becomes same as the outer peripheral length of the piston 2. Accordingly, the rubber bellows 3 can be extended and contracted without receiving any unreasonable stress and the bellows can be ved to the cylinder 1 side and the piston 2 side alternately with a bending effect only. A tension is applied only in the axial direction of the cylindrical bellows 3, therefore, cords buried in the rubber as core members can stand against the tension. No stress is applied to the circumferential direction of the bellows, therefore, no reinforcing member is needed and the bellows may be deformed without receiving any unreasonable stress.
