Consequently, count data on dummy exponent characteristics or coefficient data on linear characteristics are obtained.

Then the quick attenuation rate (damping rate) is made lower and lower as the amplitude level of the musical sound signal is higher and higher, and made higher and higher as the amplitude level is lower and lower to make the inclination of the quick attenuation gentle when the amplitude level of the musical sound signal is large, thereby suppressing the click noise. When the amplitude level is small, on the other hand, the original click noise is inconspicuous and the quick attenuation is completed early.

Consequently, fast time-division arithmetic is not required to maintain a necessary sampling frequency.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily give the effect that varies the frequency of an input sound signal without using resources other than a digital signal processor(DSP) by providing a converting means which converts coefficient data according to exponential function characteristics and outputs the converted coefficient data, etc. SOLUTION: A coefficient RAM 24 inputs the coefficient data from a CPU 1 through a data and address bus 8 and stores it in a given area. The coefficient data read out of the coefficient RAM 24 is G supplied to a 1st terminal of a selector 29. Then the coefficient data stored in the coefficient RAM 24 is rewritten by the CPU 1 in real time through the data and address bus 8 according to the exponential function characteristics. Consequently, a user can vary the coefficient at the operation of the DSP 7 for effect momentarily through the operation of an external controller to control the effect in real time.
