    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording and reproduction integrated type magnetic head which realizes a high recording density by reducing the deviation of a recording element and a reproducing element, and obtain a magnetic recording apparatus which improves the reliability on a spin valve type MR element and a tunnel MR element. SOLUTION: In the composite type recording/reproducing magnetic head, a reproducing element is arranged between a first magnetic pole and a second magnetic pole of a recording element. Alternatively, the reproducing element is set on the outflow side of the second magnetic pole, and a free layer is disposed on the second magnetic pole side. The recording element and reproducing element are made close to each other. The deviation of a record and a reproduction positions can be reduced. A part of a medium is formed of a magnetic material of a high coercive force resistive to effects of an external magnetic field or a magnetic field from the recording element. The material is magnetized beforehand, thereby, a spin valve type MR element of the reproducing element or a pinning layer of a tunnel MR element is magnetized by a magnetic field generated from the high coercive force magnetic material. A reliability on the reproducing element is accordingly improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the magnetic field in the direction perpendicular to the surface of a recording medium, generated from a magnetic pole part and to shorten the magnetic path length to enhance high frequency characteristics in a thin film magnetic head. SOLUTION: A thin film magnetic head is provided with a first and a second magnetic layers 8 and 14 each including a magnetic pole part and magnetically connected with each other at a position apart from a medium facing surface ABS, a gap layer 9 provided between the magnetic layers 8 and 14 and a thin film coil 10, a part of which is provided between the magnetic layers 8 and 14. The second magnetic layer 14 has a magnetic pole part layer 14A and a yoke part layer 14B. The saturated magnetic flux density of the magnetic pole part layer 14A is higher than the saturated magnetic flux density of the yoke part layer 14B. The yoke part layer 14B comprises a first layer 14B1 coming in contact with the surfaces on the gap layer 9 side of the first magnetic layer 8 and the magnetic pole part layer 14A and a second layer 14B2 coming into contact with the first layer 14B1 and both side surfaces of the rear end surface and the width direction of the magnetic pole part layer 14A.

In the section parallel to a medium facing surface and intersecting the part where the magnetic pole part layer 14A and the yoke part layer 14B are magnetically connected with each other, at least a part of the end part on the gap layer side of the yoke part layer 14B is disposed in the position nearer to the first magnetic layer 8 than the position of the end part on the gap layer side of the magnetic pole part layer 14A.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head wherein the magnetic field in the direction perpendicular to the surface of a recording medium, generated from a magnetic pole part, can be enhanced and recording density can be enhanced. SOLUTION: The thin film magnetic head is provided with a first and a second magnetic layers 8 and 14, a gap layer 9 provided between the first and the second magnetic layers 8 and 14 and a thin film coil 10, a part of which is provided between the first and the second magnetic layers 8 and 14. The second magnetic layer 14 has a magnetic pole part layer 14A, a yoke part layer 14B and a connection part 14C. The head is provided with a non-magnetic layer 15 provided on the side opposite to the gap layer 9 of the magnetic pole part layer 14A. The yoke part layer 14B is connected with the rear end surface of the magnetic pole part layer 14A and in the section including the connecting surface, the thickness of the yoke part layer 14B is thicker than the thickness of the magnetic pole part layer 14A.
