    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive electro-optical element allowing mass-production and free from a defect.
      SOLUTION: The electro-optical element is assembled with sensor chips 2 onto a support block formed with electrodes 3, 4, and uses no electro-optical crystal in a pedestal portion. The large number of sensor chips 2 is manufactured by cleavage or dicing, without substantially cutting the electro-optical crystal. The expensive electro-optical crystal is thereby used efficiently to provide the inexpensive electro-optical element 1. The mass-producible electro-optical element 1 is provided by mass-producing and assembling the uniform support block with the electrodes and the uniform sensor chips 2 at once. The electro-optical element 1 evaded from defect trouble in a ridge and easy to be handled is provided further by bringing the sensor chips 2 and upper faces of the electrodes 3, 4 into the same plane to eliminate a protruded portion of the sensor chips 2.
