    • PURPOSE:To enable the easy change in plate width and to improve the efficiency of production by providing a gate which prevents the leakage of molten steel on the outside circumferential surfaces of a pair of cooling rolls having vertical axial lines, and making the level of the molten metal surface in a molten steel well changeable. CONSTITUTION:A titled device consists of a pair of cooling rolls 1 which have vertical axial lines and are in proximity to each other, a driving means for rotating the rolls 1, and a gate 7 provided in contact with the outside circumferential surface of the rolls 1 to prevent leakage of molten steel 9. Internally cooled fins 6 of a disc shape larger in diameter than the rolls 1 are fixed to the bottom end on the outside circumferential surfaces of said rolls 1. A molten steel well is formed in the bottom part 7C of the gate 7 in contact with the fins 6 cooperatively with a part of the outside circumferential surfaces of the rolls 1 and a part of the fins 6. The windth of a cast plate 9'' is changed easily and the efficiency of production is improved by the above-mentioned device.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a cast plate having good surface characteristics by supplying gas through the openings formed to a gate for preventing the leakage of molten steel and making the solidified layer at the inside bottom end of the gate and the solidified layer on the outside circumferential surface of cooling rolls separable.     • PURPOSE:To produce a thin amorphous or ultra-fine crystalline metallic film having a uniform thickness without contg. air bubble in the stage of cooling quickly a molten metal by the high-speed rotation of two cooling drums and forming the thin metallic film by disposing a spacer in the lower part of the pouring basin formed of the cooling drums and side gates. CONSTITUTION:The two cooling drums 1, 1' having horizontal shafts are quickly rotated in arrow directions. The molten metal in the pouring basin 4 therebetween is solidified on the surface of the rolls 1, 1' and is pressurized by auxiliary rolls 5, 5' to form the thin metallic films 7, 7' having the uniform thickness. The thin films are stripped from the rolls 1, 1' by scrapers 6, 6' and are taken up. The refractory spacer 2 is disposed in the pouring basin between the rolls 50 as to maintain the surface thereof in the horizontal diametral position of both rolls. The thin amorphous or extra-fine crystalline metallic film having no air bubble and no fluctuation in the electrical characteristics is continuously produced without sucking air bubble the lower part between the rolls.
