    • PURPOSE:To obtain high-precision optical glass elements by using a mold having formed a specific multi-layer film on the molding face of a processing parent material comprising a cermet having a specific composition, a sintered compact of WC, etc., heating glass lump and press molding. CONSTITUTION:A parent material composed of a super hard alloy consisting essentially of tungsten carbide, a cermet consisting essentially of titanium carbide or titanium nitride or a sintered material of tungsten carbide is prepared. The, the parent material is processed in high accuracy into a shape of a desired optical glass element to prepare a mold 11. The molding face of the mold 11 is provided with a multi-layer film 12 obtained by alternately laminating a nitride film and a carbide film or a boride film and a platinum-group alloy film. Then glass lump of target molding is placed between a pair of upper and lower molds 11, heated to >= the softening point of the glass lump and press molded to produce an optical glass element.

    • PURPOSE:To condense the light in picture element apertures and neat these apertures and to obtain a display of a bright screen and high display grade by arranging many pieces of micro-optical elements obtd. by cutting the cut surfaces of spherical small cut bodies from a perpendicular direction so as to correspond these elements to respective picture elements, thereby constituting the display element. CONSTITUTION:Glass is press formed at hot by the press forming mold corresponding to the microoptical elements which have the shapes 4 obtd. by cutting the cut surfaces of the spherical small cut bodies at plural points from the perpendicular direction and are arranged in many pieces so as to correspond to the respective picture elements, by which the optical element is produced. Incident light 20 past the microoptical element of the display element obtd. in such a manner is condensed to transparent electrode 14 of the apertures and is passed through a common electrode 16 and a glass substrate 12. Most of the light is transmitted through the transparent electrodes 14 constituting the picture elements without being shielded by thin-film transistors 13 and the opening rate of the picture elements is substantially increased. The display having the bright screen and the high display quality is obtd. in this way.
