    • PURPOSE:To provide an image display device having stable and high image quality by eliminating deformation of a vertical deflecting electrode when it is adhered and joined to a horizontal deflecting electrode by glass at a high temperature in an electric furnace, enabling easy work, and forming a shape of the vertical deflecting electrode of not exerting adverse influence on an image in a plate type image display device. CONSTITUTION:A bridge 31 is arranged between conductive plates A29 and B30 of a vertical deflecting electrode 8, and opening holes 32 are arranged on both sides of the bridge 31. Throwing-away opening holes 33 in the same shape with the opening holes 32 are arranged at regular intervals in the conductor plates A29 and B30. In this constitution, deformation of the conductive plates A29 and B30 of the vertical deflecting electrode 8 is prevented, and cutting of the bridge 31 is facilitated, and influence of the opening holes is uniformized over the whole surface, so that an image display device having stable and high image quality is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the seizure of a metal-back layer and obtain a high-quality image invariably stably by coating silver paste in a belt shape on the periphery section of the metal-back layer added on phosphors. CONSTITUTION:Silver paste is coated to be partially overlapped on a metal-back layer 33 on the periphery section of the metal-back layer 33. A high-voltage terminal 35 is arranged in reliable contact with the silver paste 34. When electron beams 36 collide with a screen 31, the electron beams 36 are transferred along the metal-back layer 33 and reach the nearest place to the silver paste 34. The metal-back layer 33 has very thin thickness 1000Angstrom , its operating resistance is high, and the electron beams 36 tend to flow into the high-voltage terminal 35 along the silver paste 34 with low operating resistance. The electron beams 36 are not concentrated on the metal-back layer 33 near the terminal 35, and the seizure of the metal-back layer 33 can be prevented.
