    • PURPOSE:To produce a catalytic member having a layer covered with a catalyst in a part of base material by covering a part of the base material with an organic film, immersing the base material in aqueous slurry of the catalyst, drying the base material and then immersing it in an organic solvent to dissolve the organic film with which the base material is covered and thereafter heat- treating the base material to form the layer covered with the catalyst in a part of the base material. CONSTITUTION:A part of base material such as metal, ceramic or a glass body is covered with an organic film. The base material is immersed in aqueous slurry of a catalyst and dried. Thereafter, the base material is immersed in an organic solvent to swell and peel or dissolve the organic film with which the base material is covered. Thereafter, the base material is heat-treated to form the layers 8A, 8B covered with the catalyst in a part of the base material. As a result, a catalytic member having the layer covered with the catalyst in a part of the base material is produced without generating harmful exhaust gas of combustion in a simple operating process.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain the large width of regulation for the quantity of fuel consumption which extends from a low quantity to a high quantity of fuel consumption by providing a main catalyst layer that has many communication holes downstream of a mixing chamber for fuel and air and providing an auxiliary catalyst that has similar form downstream of this catalyst layer, and detecting the temperature on the downstream side of the main catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:The high temperature combustion gas that is generated in a primary combustion section 5 is sent to a main catalyst layer 7 and heats it and raises its temperature, and the combustion gas is further sent to an auxiliary catalyst 8 on the downstream side to heat it and raise its temperature A temperature sensor 10 is provided downstream of the main catalyst layer 7 and it stops the combustion if the temperature downstream of the main catalyst layer 7 reaches a certain temperature above a specified temperature or it stops the combustion if the temperature of the catalyst falls suddenly. With this arrangement it is avoided that the position of the main combustion moves to the auxiliary catalyst layer 8 and it is possible to avoid a deterioration in the performance of the auxiliary catalyst layer 8. Therefore, the burner can be controlled in a wide, range of fuel consumption.

    • PURPOSE:To generate a large quantity of heat by the combustion with no flame by providing a catalyst layer that can be heated by a heater in a plurality of through-holes formed in a hot plate and on the inner wall of a mixing chamber and obtaining the state of high temperature by the reduction caused by supplying a mixture of the gas and air to the catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:Air is drawn into a mixing chamber 4 by the drawing action of the gas flow blown out of a nozzle 2 in a liquefaction gas cylinder 1 and the air is mixed with the gas uniformly. A hot plate 5 made of aluminium is provided in the downstream of this mixing chamber 4, and into a plurality of through-holes 6 provided in this hot plate 5 the mixture gas is made to flow uniformly. A catalyst layer 7 is provided upstream of the inner wall of the mixing chamber 4 and those through-holes 6, and an electric heater 8 which is heated by a dry battery is provided near the catalyst layer 7 on the inner wall of the mixing chamber to heat the catalyst layer 7. And, the mixture gas through a valve 3 is supplied to the heated catalyst layer 7 and a reaction is made between them to obtain the state of high temperature. After that, the exhaust gas that has finished reaction by going through the through-holes 6 goes through the through-holes 6 without catalyst layer and is discharged.
