    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to install a connection box at an actual site by storing an optical connector in a connector housing, and connecting the optical connectors 7 and also coupling the connector housing to the opposite connector housing at the time of connecting operation. CONSTITUTION:The base part of a flexible pipe 4 is fixed to the tip of a sheath 2 with an adhesive, etc., and the connector housing 5 is coupled with the tip of the flexible pipe 4 by a connector 6 for connection respectively. The optical connector 7 is fitted to the tip of an optical fiber core 3 and stored stop in the connector housing 5. Pins 8 and 9 for alignment are projected from the end surface of the connector housing 5 and the end surface of the optical connector 7, and a nut 10 for coupling is supported rotatably so that it does not fall. The optical cable 1 with the connector like this is laid and then connected to the optical fiber core of an optical cable of an adjacent section through the optical connector 7 and connector housing 5. Consequently, the connecting operation at the actual site is only the connection of the optical connectors 7 and connector housings 5, and the positioning with the opposite optical cable is facilitated.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently perform branch connecting operation in a short time by coupling a connector housing with the tips of respective flexible pipes and supporting and optical connector fitted for the tips of optical fiber cores in each group in the connector housing. CONSTITUTION:An optical core unit 3 is branched previously at the terminal part 5 of an optical cable 1 and branching operation is not necessary at an actual site. The optical connector 11 is connected previously to branched optical fiber cores 2 in each group, so connections with optical fiber cores of an optical cable of a next section are easily made at the actual site. Respective optical connectors 11 are put in the connector housing 9, which is coupled with the opposite connector housing, so the connection box which contains the optical connector 11 need not be installed at the actual site. The optical fiber cores 2 in respective groups are put in flexible pipes 7 respectively, so they are freely bent and easily positioned for the opposite connected cores. Consequently, the operation at the actual site is only the connection of connectors and the actual site operation is performed efficiently in a short time.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent an optical fiber core from being damaged by the end part of an electric wire at the time of extension by fixing the optical fiber core by means of a fixing member to the end of the electric wire. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber core 3 having a fiber-reinforced plastic coating is built via a protective tube or the like into the center of the electric wire 2 twisted with the metallic strands of a composite cable 1 at the terminal part of the composite cable. The optical fiber core 3 is led out of the end part of the electric wire 2 at a min. required length and an optical connector 4 is mounted to the front end of the optical fiber core 3. The leading out part of the optical fiber core 3 is fixed to the end of the electric wire 2 by the fixing member 5 such as adhesive agent in the end part of the electric wire 2. A cylindrical extension clamp 6 is fitted to the cable to enclose the end part of the electric wire 2, the exposed part of the optical fiber core 3 and the connector 4 and is fixed to the electric wire 2 by a press contact part 6A, etc. The leading in of the optical fiber core 3 into the electric wire is thereby prevented at the time of extending the cable and, therefore, the damage of the optical fiber core 3 in the end part of the electric wire at the time of the extension is prevented.

    • PURPOSE: To make it possible to easily and surely divide a coated optical fiber ribbon to a required number of coated fibers without depending on the technique level of an operator by movably providing the dividing means with positioning members for regulating the positions in the transverse direction of the coated optical fiber ribbon. CONSTITUTION: The dividing means 10 for the coated optical fiber ribbon has a dividing means casing 11, a dividing means body 20 housed within the dividing means casing 11 and a casing 12 covering the surface having a mounting hole 134 of the dividing means casing 11. The U-shaped positioning members 14 are fixed with lock screws 15 to both side faces of the dividing means casing 11. These positioning members 14 have depth regulating parts 16 for regulating the positions in the transverse direction of the coated optical fiber ribbon to be mounted. Then, the mounting position of the coated optical fiber ribbon is properly set by moving the positioning members 14 and fixing the positioning members 14 by tightening the lock screws 15 disposed in oblong holes 17 at the point where the depth regulating parts 16 reach the desired positions.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a reinforced coating layer for an optical fiber juncture which is free from lumps and flashes and is uniform with the diameter nearly equal to the coating diameter of the optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:This coating method for the optical fiber juncture comprises arranging the parts 3A, 3B where the coating of the optical fibers are removed into a groove 8 of one mold 4A of a pair of transparent molds 4A, 4B along the longitudinal direction of this groove 8 and packing a UV curing resin into the parts 3A, 3B where the coatings are removed in the groove 8, then mating the mold 4B which is the other of the pair with this mold, irradiating the molds 4A, 4B with UV rays from the outer side thereof to cure the resin, thereby molding the reinforced coating layer 15. The molds 4A, 4B described above are provided with films which do not allow transmission of UV rays on their mating surfaces. The molds are provided with the material which does not allow the transmission of the UV rays on their mating surfaces exclusive of the grooves and, therefore, the uncured UV curing resin projecting to the mating surfaces does not form the flashes and remains uncured. Then, the resin is easily wiped away by a solvent, such as ethanol.
