    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to program the long-term stable angle of inclination defined in combination with arbitrary magnetic declinations during exposure by exposing a ppn material oriented in parallel with the polarization direction of exposure light in such a manner that the light incident direction is not parallel with the normal to the surface of an optically orientable layer. SOLUTION: The layer 2 of the photosensitive polymer PPN is formed on a glass plate 1 and the left half of the layer is perpendicular exposed in the incident ray polarization direction of a mercury lamp. The right half is kept covered during this exposure. Next, the ppn coated plate is rotated around a 70 deg. axis perpendicular to the incident direction 3 and the right half of the layer is exposed for three minutes by polarized UV light. The perpendicular light 4 to the plane and the incident direction of the UV light are selected so as to form the polarization direction on the plane in this inclined exposure. Next, the layer of nematic liquid crystals is applied on the ppn layer. The entire surface is brightened when the exposure is inclined in a certain direction. The entire surface is darkened in the inclination in the opposite direction. The liquid crystal molecules are inclined in the programmed direction by such inclined exposure.
