The plate piece 31 is arranged in a space S surrounded by joint surfaces 16 at four locations and inclined end surfaces 32 of at the corner of the plate piece 31 are joined and fixed to the joint surfaces 16 by an adhesive layer 80. Wall parts 17 in a plate-piece shape are protrusively provided on both sides of the plate piece 31. The joint surfaces 16 are formed on the wall parts 17.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup capable of ensuring cooling performance of electronic components, suppressing warp of a case accompanying change in environmental temperature, restricting deformation of the case to prevent components from falling and the case from being damaged even when an impact load is applied to the case, and improving reliability in a disk drive using the optical pickup.SOLUTION: An optical pickup has a case made of a resin material reinforced with glass fiber, inorganic filler or the like with polyphenylene sulfide as a base material, and a metal plate formed of a material having a linear expansion coefficient within a range of a linear expansion coefficient of the case in a direction between bearings when a fiber orientation of the case is in the direction between the bearings or random. The metal plate has two rising members bended to the case side at both ends in the direction between the bearings. Two walls of the outer hull of an opening of the case at both ends in the direction between the bearings and the two rising members of the metal plate are alternately opposed, and the opposed walls of the case and the rising members of the metal plate are fixed using adhesives.

An arm for connecting the body part and the claw part of the rack gear is formed such that a cross-sectional shape of a plane perpendicular to the rotary axis direction of the lead screw becomes a convex shape, a concave shape and a wave shape. The width direction of the rack gear can be shortened by an improvement in torsional rigidity of the rack gear so as to miniaturize the collimator lens moving mechanism.
