    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve life characteristics when a lead-acid storage battery is used in a low SOC region.
      SOLUTION: This shows the lead-acid storage battery which contains palladium in the negative electrode active material, and then, which contains 0.000,3-0.005 pt.wt. of palladium based on 100 pts.wt. of Pb as the negative electrode active material. Instead of adding palladium to the negative electrode active material, palladium concentration in a lead alloy as a negative electrode grid is made to be 0.000,01 wt.%-0.003 wt.%, or palladium contained in the electrolytic solution 11 is made to be 0.02-1.0 mmol. Theses constitutions are especially effective for the lead-acid storage battery of which the distance between electrode plates of the positive electrode and the negative electrode is made to be 1.50 mm or less.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to manufacture a grid base board made of Pb-Ca-Sn-Ba group lead alloy with high quality and improved flatness at an expanding process, by improving corrosion resistance by densifying lead by promoting re-crystallization thereof, by continuously squeezing and rolling the lead in a prescribed temperature range, and by reducing residual inside stress.
      SOLUTION: The Pb-Ca-Sn-Ba group lead alloy is continuously squeezed at a temperature lower than a melting point by 10°C to 100°C, and rolled with a total draft of 10 to 98% at the temperature lower than the melting point by 50°C to 230°C, and formed into the grid base board by the expanding process.
