    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding device which does not cut a folding edge of a folded sheet when stitching the back end surface of a sheet bunch and cutting the peripheral edge for alignment.
      SOLUTION: This bookbinding device comprises a sheet folding means for folding sheets fed from a sheet carry-in route one by one, a collecting means for collecting the sheets from the sheet folding means or the sheet carry-in route and for aligning copies, a stitching means for stitching the back end edge of the sheet bunch, a cutting means for cutting the peripheral edge for alignment, a folding position computing means for setting a folding position of the sheet folding means, and a cut quantity computing means for computing the cut length by the cutting means. When folding the sheet into Z-shape with the sheet folding means, the folding position computing means sets the inner folding position on the sheet back side based on the cut length in an end of the sheets obtained from the cut quantity computing means. When computing the inner folding position, the folding position computing means computes the length of the sheet back end edge and the length of the inner folding position so as to be shorter than the length of the sheet back end edge and the length of the edge of the end part after cutting for finish.
