    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning sonar for making reliable automatic tracking by accurately controlling a tile angle to the travel of a target.
      SOLUTION: Horizontal scanning and vertical scanning are performed alternately, and the prediction position of a target is calculated based on an echo signal by a target lock operation part 11. A switcher 9 sets a range, the tilt angle, and an azimuth so that it can scan a target prediction position, and outputs them to a transmission/reception control section 6. The depth of the target can be detected by the vertical scanning, and the tile angle can be followed to the travel of the target even if the target moves up and down by controlling the tilt angle of the horizontal scan based on the depth information, thus accurately capturing the target and reliably performing the automatic tracking.

    • PURPOSE:To minimize reduction in the wave transmitting/receiving sensitivity product by providing a phase shifting circuit on an active sonar circuit for an acoustic homing apparatus to control the main axis of a wave beam received so that it coincides the direction of receiving waves according to the turning of an underwater navigating body. CONSTITUTION:The curve C indicating the wave transmitting/receiving sensitivity product DI varies with the turning. When the wave transmitting directivity (curve A) coincides with the wave receiving directivity (curve B), the reduction in the wave transmitting/receiving sensitivity product is minimized and increases before and after the point of coincidence. The axis of the wave receiving directivity is controlled to coincide the axis of the wave transmitting directivity regardless of the turning of an underwater navigating body. This maintains reduction in the wave transmitting/receiving sensitivity product at the minimum in the turning.
