    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical glass capable of preventing platinum particles from generating without lowering clarification effect even if melting a glass raw material concoction containing a Sb oxide and remelting a glass cullet in a melting apparatus made of a refractory material containing platinum. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical glass comprises melting the glass raw material concoction containing the Sb oxide in the melting apparatus made of a refractory material containing platinum, pulverizing to prepare the glass cullet, remelting the glass cullet, and thereafter molding, and is characterized by melting the glass raw material concoction under the condition that the ratio (Sb 3+ in the optical glass/total Sb)/(Sb 3+ in the glass cullet/total Sb) is not greater than 2.5, and further remelting the glass cullet.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of stably producing an optical element having sufficient optical performance by using an optical glass containing an easily reducible component or fluorine and suppressing unnecessary interfacial reaction in press forming. SOLUTION: The glass material for mold-press forming comprises: a core part made of an optical glass of a multi-component system which contains at least one kind of the easily reducible component comprising W, Ti, Bi and Nb; and a coating part which is made of a glass of multi-component system having a content of the easily reducible component less than that of the core part or having no easily reducible component, and applies coating to the surface of the core part is coated. Otherwise, the glass material for mold-press forming comprises: a core part made of an optical glass of a multi-component system which contains fluorine; and a coating part which is made of a glass of multi-component system having a content of fluorine thereof less than that of the core part or having no fluorine therein, and applies coating to the surface of the core part.
