    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight sheet material having excellent appearance, feeling, and further extension ratio and extension recovery ratio.
      SOLUTION: The sheet material includes: ultrafine fibers having an average fiber diameter of 0.3-7 μm of the single fibers; a polymer elastic body containing a polyurethane as a main ingredient; and a woven fabric. In the sheet material, one of warp yarns and weft yarns composing the woven fabric is a yarn formed from two or more polyethylene terephthalate-based polymers having a difference in intrinsic viscosity (IV), and containing side-by-side type or eccentric core-sheath type conjugated fibers. The other contains fibers formed from one polyethylene terephthalate-based polymer, and having a hollow part in the cross section of the single fibers.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sheet-shaped article having a graceful appearance and good strength and also having a flexible touch feeling.
      SOLUTION: This method for producing the sheet-shaped article includes forming a wet web on a base cloth by using a suspension containing ultra fine fiber-generating fibers having a fiber length of 0.1 mm or more and 10 mm or less, or laminating a sheet formed in advance by using the suspension with the base cloth, then forming a non-woven fabric by a high pressure water flow ejection treatment of the wet web or formed sheet on the base cloth to entangle the ultra fine fiber-generating fibers with the base cloth and then forming ultra fine fibers from the ultra fine fiber generating fibers constituting the non-woven fabric.
