    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable simultaneous measurement of the length and the thickness of a work, with high precision and simple structure, by detecting the ascending amount of a detection roller by the work pushing-up, and detecting the angle rotated by the work while the detection roller abuts against the work. SOLUTION: The front end of a work W on a conveyer 2 abouts against a detection roller 11, which is pushed up while rotating and runs on the upper surface of the work W. An operating means calculates the thickness (t) of the work W from the detected value of an encoder 8. When the detection roller 11 starts ascending, an encoder 12 starts detection of the amount of rotation of the roller. In the position where the detection roller 11 reaches the rear end of the work W, descends to a carriage surface, and leaves the work W, the encoder 12 ends the detection operation. The operating means calculates the work length L in the carriage direction, from a rotation angle β of the detection roller 11 which the encoder 12 detected and the thickness (t) of the work W, on the basis of a relation L=R (β-2cos (R-t)/R)).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform sure classification with a simple structure by individually supporting the supporting shafts of a plurality of rollers rotary-driven around a horizontal supporting shaft and simultaneously rotating a plurality of roller supporting frames provided so as to be rotated around a vertical axis intersecting the axis of each supporting shaft in a fixed position around the vertical axis by aligning the directions of the sorting rollers. SOLUTION: When an article to be classified carried from the upstream on a carrier belt 2 is detected by a photoelectric sensor installed in the front of a sorting transferer 1, among a plurality of sorting rollers 4, first the sorting rollers 4 of two rows in the upstream are rotated the sorting direction by an air cylinder 10A. Since in the carrier belt 2 is distorted downward from the upper surface of the sorting rollers 4 because of the weight of the article, the article is placed over the sorting rollers in the upstream and obliquely moved toward a sorting shoot. Before the article is transferred to the sorting rollers 4 of three rows in a downstream, the rollers 4 of three rows are rotated in a sorting direction by an air cylinder 10B. The article transferred to the sorting rollers 4 is discharged to the sorting shoot.
