    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a novel preparation method capable of realizing a high polymerization activity, a highly alternating property and control of molecular weight distribution and regioregularity using, as a raw material, carbon disulfide that can be easily synthesized from carbon and sulfur, and to provide a novel trithiocarbonate alternating copolymer that could not be conventionally prepared. SOLUTION: The polytrithiocarbonate alternating copolymer of formula (1) having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 or larger is prepared by the preparation method of the polytrithiocarbonate alternating copolymer wherein episulfide is polymerized with carbon disulfide in the presence of a nucleophilic reagent and a Lewis acid metal compound.
