SOLUTION: An air conditioner mainly comprises an air conditioner main body 1 1 having a heat exchanger 4, an air-conditioning fan 5, a ventilating fan 8, a heating coil 6 and a control means 7, an outside air intake 3 attached to the body of a building, an exhaust port 15, an indoor inlet port 16 provided in an air conditioned space 2, a hot air outlet port 14, a cold air outlet port 13 and an upper sensor 11 and a lower sensor 12 for sensing the upper and lower temperatures of the air conditioned space 2. Temperature sensed by the lower sensor 12 is compared with temperature sensed by the upper sensor 11 and controlled so as to be equal to or higher than the latter by controlling air volume, supply air temperature and the amount of ventilation from the hot air outlet port 14 by means of the control means 7.

SOLUTION: When a variation mode is selected by an operation mode selecting part 108 at the time when room temperature is at a temperature set by a room temperature setting part 102 under the control of a room temperature control part 103, a variation starting part 109 switches an operation control of a compressor C from the one by the room temperature control part 103 before that time over to the one by a room temperature variation control part 106 and the operation control of a blower F from the one by an air velocity control part 105 before that time over to the one by an air velocity variation control part 107 respectively. The room temperature variation control part 106 sends a control signal to the compressor C so that the room temperature may vary between the set temperature and a lower limit temperature being lower than the set temperature, while the air velocity variation control part 107 sends a control signal to the blower F so that air velocity may vary in such a manner that prescribed upper-limit and lower-limit air velocities are repeated alternately, during the time when the room temperature rises from the lower limit temperature to the set temperature.
