    • PURPOSE: To inhibit the display of test signals on a screen even when the deflection position of the screen is changed by synchronizing the detection signals of the white level of the test signals to deflection position signals for determining the deflection position and letting them follow up the fluctuation of the deflection position. CONSTITUTION: A multivibrator 7 prepares the test signals 6 of a TTL level and white and black level detection pulses 19 and 18 with the deflection position signals (pulses) 17 as reference. A test signal superimposing circuit 2 superimposes the test signals 6 synchronized with the deflection position pulses on input video signals. The test signals 6 are provided with the white level detection pulses 19 within the pulse width of the test signals and the black level detection pulses 18 follow immediate after the test signals 6. Thus, since timewise relation of the deflection position signals 17, the white level detection pulses 19 and the black level detection pulses 18 is fixed at all times, even when the deflection position of the screen is shifted, the test signals 6 are not displayed on the screen.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel capable of generating stable writing discharge, improving cross talk to an adjacent discharge cell and reducing erroneous discharge.
      SOLUTION: This plasma display panel is provided with a lateral barrier rib 34b separating a main discharge cell 40 wherein a scanning electrode 22 and a sustaining electrode 23 on a front face substrate 21 face a data electrode 32 on a back face substrate 31 and a priming discharge cell 41a having two adjoining scanning electrodes 22 of the scanning electrodes 22 and constituted in a gap part adjacent to the main discharge cell 40, and a front plate dielectric layer 24 covering the scanning electrode 22 and the sustaining electrode 23. Auxiliary electrodes 22b' are formed so that mutually facing surfaces of adjacent auxiliary electrode 22b' and auxiliary electrode 22b' incline to any of the scanning electrode 22, the sustaining electrode 23 and the data electrode 32.
