摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact high-pressure vapor discharge lamp with a long life wherein a light translucent alumina tube is used for a light emission tube, and a sealing part leak is especially prevented in the lamp with middle or high wattage. SOLUTION: In the high-pressure vapor discharge lamp wherein the light emitting tube consisting of the light translucent alumina tube encloses at least metal halides, mercury and inert gas, and wherein the light emitting tube is incorporated into an outer globe while a gap between an electro-conductive body and the alumina tube is sealed up with a brazing material for ceramic sealing at the both end parts, the light emitting tube has a central part and narrow tube parts whose outer diameter is thinner than that of the central part in both ends of the central part, and the narrow tube parts are both consisted of a thick wall part and a thin wall part. The thick wall part exists in the central part side of the light emitting tube, and the thin wall part exists in the end part of the light emitting tube.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long life of lamp, suppressing the going out at start of itself, the rise of starting voltage, and the blackening of a luminous tube, by lessening OH groups to be mixed in quartz to the utmost, and performing high-temperature vacuum furnace processing after processing, using a burner where propane gas or city gas is used for processing of a quartz luminous tube. SOLUTION: Out of side pipe joint process, in the case of having performed processing by oxyhydrogen burner for both drawing process and joint process, OH groups mix in. Moreover, also in the next sealing process, likewise OH groups mix in. So, for the processing by hydrogen burner, the same process is to be performed by the burner processing using propane or city gas, and then processing in vacuum furnace at high temperature is performed for one hour, whereby the average OH content of the quartz light emitting tube can be made 1ppm or under. This way, by using propane or city gas, the reduction of the processing in vacuum furnace at high temperature and the sharp reduction of the OH content become possible. Hereby, a long life of lamp can be obtained by suppressing the going out at start of a lamp or the rise of starting voltage, and the blackening or devitrification of the luminous tube.
