    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser brazing method which is suitable for a lap fillet joint of sheet metal.
      SOLUTION: The brazing material is melted by irradiation of a laser beam having a wave length of near-infrared light or far-infrared light, while a brazing material made of a copper alloy is being supplied, in a state that a backing material is in contact with an area corresponding to a position whose upper surface side is to be irradiated by the laser beam and the lower surface side is the fillet of the lap fillet joint where a top and a bottom steel sheet members are lapped together. The backing material may be a rotatable member, a slidable member or a close contacting member covering the whole bottom surface of the lap fillet joint, depending upon the position to be applied.

      SOLUTION: The joining structure comprises a splice plate abutted on each side face of a first girder member 10 and a second girder member 10, and a bolt member 4 to couple each of the first and second girder members with the splice plate 3. An end face of the first girder member and an end face of the second girder member are welded to each other by using a predetermined welding material. A weld metal 5 generated by the welding generates a martensitic transformation in the cooling process after the welding. The state of the weld metal when the martensitic transformation is started is defined as a first state, and the state of the weld metal cooled to the room temperature is defined as a second state. The material composition of the weld metal is set so that the expansion or contraction in the second state to that in the first state of the weld metal is below a predetermined permissible value.
