    • PURPOSE:To enable multiple gradation middle tone recording imparting excellent printing quality, by using a thermal head capable of performing middle tone recording and a middle tone transfer sheet capable of controlling a transfer ink amount and continuously controlling the state of a recording dot regenerated on transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:In a middle tone recording thermal head 31, a heat generating resistor 2 is constituted of resistor elements 2a, 2b, 2c each having a rectangular parallepiped different in an applying energy value per a unit area and arranged on a substrate 1 in an array form to be connected to an electrode 3. Power is sent to said electrode 3 corresponding to an image signal and the energy applied to the heat generating resistor 2 is controlled to regenerate a variable density image 36 on transfer paper 34. A middle tone transfer sheet 9 consists of a base film 10 and an ink layer 11 and is held between a thermal head 12 and the transfer paper 13 at the time of recording and, because the amount of the ink 15 transferred to the transfer paper 13 is little and the thickness thereof is reduced when the quantity of generated heat of the thermal head 12 by the current of a heat generating resistor 14 is low, a low density dot is formed and, when the quantity of generated heat increases, a high density dot is formed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure uniform luminance even when thickness of a liquid crystal display 1 is reduced in the liquid crystal display 1 in which white light of a fluorescent tube 2 being a linear light source, repeats a plurality of times of diffusion and reflection between a reflection sheet 5 and a diffusion plate 11, and subsequently is made incident on a liquid crystal panel 3 being a display screen, as backlight light.
      SOLUTION: The occurrence of luminance unevenness caused by reduction in a distance from the reflection sheet 5 to the diffusion plate 11 is prevented by arranging at least one pin mold hold 10a on the reflection sheet 5 so as to hold the diffusion plate 11 in the vicinity of a nearly center position of it so as to prevent the diffusion plate 11 from being deformed (deformation in the form of protrusion toward the fluorescent tube 2 side) due to thermal expansion of the diffusion plate 11 caused by heat generation of the fluorescent tube 2.
