    • PURPOSE:To raise the strength, by alternately combining waved surfaces with flat surfaces in a header and supporting the flat surfaces of high-pressure fluid passages by the wave crest parts of low-pressure fluid passages. CONSTITUTION:Heat transfer plates 16 which have central heat transfer parts having waved surfaces 14 and have flat header surfaces 15 at both the ends, and other heat transfer plates 19 which have central waves surfaces 17 having the same phase as the waved surfaces 14 of the heat transfer plates 16 but having a larger length than the waved surfaces 14 and have small flat surfaces at both the ends are alternately juxtaposed with one another. As a result, the waved surfaces and the flat surfaces are alternately combined with one another in the header 20. Since high pressure fluid is caused to flow through header passages wherein the flat surfaces are out of contact with the crests of the waved surfaces and low pressure fluid is caused to flow through header passages wherein the flat surfaces are in contact with the troughs of the waved surfaces, the pressure-resisting property of the header is improved.

    • PURPOSE: To make a liquid which flows out of a filler in the lowermost part flow downward smoothly along a support grid by installing a support grid composed of honeycomb cores next to the lowermost end of the filler. CONSTITUTION: In a packed tower main body 100, fillers 12 are layered in tower's axial direction to compose respective blocks. A support grid composed of honeycomb cores 50, 51 is fixed in the packed tower 100 at the lowermost end 4 of the fillers l-2 by a supporting plate 52. Consequently, a liquid flowing downward from the upper side off the packed tower 100 flows down successively through the filler 2 and the filler 1 and a rising gas 11 rises upward from the space 12 and gas-liquid contact is carried out in the surface of the fillers 2, 1 to separate components of the liquid flowing downward and the rising gas, and then the liquid flowing downward flows out of the lower end of the fillers and flows down along a cell. In this way, since the support grid is composed of these honeycomb cores 50-51 with high open degree, the liquid can flows down with little pressure loss.
