The processing means has a transversal filter 7 having delay means having a plurality of taps to input the reproduced signal and a weighting and adding means for the output signals of the taps of the delay means with a predetermined tape coefficient. When the wavelength of the beam is lambda, the numerical aperture of the lens is NA and the relative speed between the medium 1 and the beam is v, the delay time tau between the adjacent taps of the plurality of the taps is a value given by the formula.

Thus, while continuously recording the information of the object for a long time, the information of the object can be optionally reproduced when an event is generated or the like.

In feeding back a signal having a frequency characteristic nearly equal to that of the actuator 109, the effect of an offset generated depending on the displacement of the actuator 109 is avoided.

    • PURPOSE:To share optical elements and to simplify an optical system by deflecting the proceeding direction of the reflecting light passing through a beam shaping functional element by means of a deflecting element and guiding the light to a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:A light source 1 is a laser light source and projects anisotropic beams of light. The light beams are turned to a parallel luminous flux by a collimating lens 2, and further shaped to be isotropic by a beam shaping prism 3. Then, the luminous flux is raised by a mirror 4 and guided to an objective lens 5. The luminous flux is condensed by the lens 5, converged and cast onto a recording surface of an optical disc 13, thereby forming fine beam spots. The light reflected at the recording surface of the disc 13 is sent through lenses 5, 2 in the opposite direction to that when the light is guided to the lens 5, and subsequently diffracted and deflected by a holographic element 6 as a deflecting element. The light is eventually detected by photodetectors 7, 8. The output signal is operated at an operational circuit 10 to generate an error signal. Accordingly, a current of a focus driving coil 12 is controlled, thereby controlling the focal position of the beam spots. In this manner, optical elements are used in common and the optical system is simplified.

    • PURPOSE:To effectively utilize information storage ability by setting a ratio between the minimum value of a mark interval or the minimum value of a mark length at the time of recording a mark position and the width of a detection window to an optimum integer ratio. CONSTITUTION:Binary or multilevel data is inputted to an input terminal 11, and is error correction encoded by an error correction encoder 12, and is inputted to an RLL encoder 13. By the encoder 13, a (d, k) code where the number of pieces of continuous appearance of '0' changes at a step (p) larger than one between the minimum value (d) and the maximum value (k) according to the information data is generated. The (d, k) code is recorded on an optical disk 16 as a mark string through an LD driver 14. At a reproducing time, an electric signal according to the mark string is data distinguished using the detection window width with which the ratio of the minimum interval of '1' in an RLL modulation code is set to (d+1): p by a data distinguisher 19, and is demodulated by an RLL demodulator 23. Thus, high recording density is obtained, and a recording medium is miniaturized and made large capacity.
