    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for manufacturing an organic polymer-metal oxide gradient component composite material that is suitable for using as a high-performance and high-functional plastic material, a plastic molded product or film, a sealing material, an adhesive, a coating binder, a structural material, an optical material, a resin additive, a surface modifier, a hard-coating agent, an electric and electronic material, a medical material, a filler or the like. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an organic-inorganic component gradient composite material having a component gradient structure whose concentration of the organic polymer component and/or metal oxide are continuously changed, is provided. In this method, the moisture-retaining gel or an organic polymer soluble in a solvent, prepared by the sol-gel process from an organic polymer having a metal alkoxy group, and a metal oxide, a metal alkoxide compound, or a partially hydrolyzed and polycondensed metal alkoxide compound, are brought into contact with each other to effect the solution diffusion from one to the other or vice versa or mutually.
