    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elevator device capable of easily preventing a car from being moved against an operation control of the elevator even in both upward and downward direction. SOLUTION: A fixing plate 13 having an engaging hole 17 is fixed in a hoistway 1. The car 3 is provided with an engaging member 15 and a travel preventing unit 12 having a driving part 16 for displacing the engaging member 15. The engaging member 15 can be displaced between a projection position inserted into the engaging hole 17 when the car 3 is at the predetermined landing position and a retreat position where the insertion to the engaging hole 17 is retreated from the projection position is disengaged. The engaging member 15 can be engaged with the fixing plate 13 in the movement direction of the car 3 by being displaced to the projection position.
