    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control rod capable of controlling a crack caused in a sheath.
      SOLUTION: The control rod 1 has four blades 2 extended from a tie rod 4 in four directions. The blades 2 each have a sheath 6 having a U-shaped lateral cross-section and hafnium members 3U, 3L of a flattened ellipsoidal tube. Tabs 18 formed on the sheath 6 are individually welded and joined to the tie rod 4. A plurality of recesses 10 formed in the sheath 6 are individually positioned in contact with the side faces on both sides of the hafnium member 3U. The width G of gaps each formed between the side faces on both sides of the hafnium member 3U and the inner face of the sheath 6 facing the side faces is kept at 0.3 mm falling in the range of 0.2 mm

      SOLUTION: A neutron absorbing element which is the nearest to the tip structure material side has a configuration having a through cutting part having a core water flowing space inside, and having a connection part connectable mutually to the insertion tip side between the tip structure material side, wherein the connection part is formed through either body of the tip structure material and the neutron absorbing element; and an insertion locking part provided on the other side, and inserted into the through cutting part to be locked.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control rod for a nuclear reactor with a support structure for a guide body with no fear of increasing the risk of stress corrosion cracking.
      SOLUTION: A guide mechanism is provided on the surface side of a control rod body 1 for smoothly driving peripheral members. The guide mechanism is equipped with a guide body 5 disposed in a hole part formed in the rod body and projecting to the surface side, and a guide body support member 7 for supporting the guide body on the rod body while itself being fixedly held in a control rod in a non-rotative manner. A mechanical constraint means is used as a means 23 for fixing and holding the support member 7 onto the control rod.
