    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proximity sensor capable of self-diagnosing oscillation mode and predicting failure on the basis of the self-diagnosis. SOLUTION: The proximity sensor is provided with: a noncontact sensor part 12 for detecting an object to be detected without contact with the object to be detected; an oscillation sensor part 20 for detecting the oscillation mode of the proximity sensor; a sensor processing part 14 for processing the detection of the object to be detected on the basis of sensor signals of the noncontact sensor part 12; and a self-diagnosis part 22 for performing such self-diagnosis as to whether the oscillation mode is set mode or not on the basis of sensor signals of the oscillation sensor part 20 and such self-diagnosis as to predict that the detection cannot be normally maintained and will fail when the oscillation mode which is not set mode continues.     • PURPOSE:To wipe off dust on the light projecting part and the light receiving part of a photoelectric sensor by means of exhaust air so as to achieve cleaning thereof by providing connection of a hose for blowing out the exhaust air from an air cylinder to the surface of the light projecting part and the light receiving part between the surface of the light projecting part and the light receiving part of the photoelectric sensor and the air blow-out port of the air cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Every time an air cylinder 57 rotates a stopper exhaust air blown out of the air blow-out port 67 of the air cylinder 57 is ejected to the surfaces of the light projecting part 47a and the light receiving part 47b of a sensor 41 through a hose 69 so as to wipe off dust and so on the surface of the light projecting part 47a and the light receiving part 47b. In this way, as the dust and so on the surface of the light projecting part 47a and the light receiving part 47b of the sensor 41 is wiped off by the exhaust air generated per action of the air cylinder 57, the dust and so on hardly accumulate on the surface of the light projecting part 47a and the light receiving part 47b, and as a result, malfunction of the sensor 41 or generation of undetected states can be surely prevented. In addition, a sensor cleaner is simple in its construction and does not need any particular new facility.
