    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interpolation frame generation apparatus and an interpolation frame generation method capable of generating a good interpolation frame.SOLUTION: The interpolation frame generation apparatus of this embodiment comprises: input means; reading means; detection means; and generation means. A plurality of frames are input to the input means. The reading means reads two or more frames among the plurality of the frames input to the input means. The detection means detects a motion vector between the two or more read frames. The generation means generates an interpolation frame based on the detected motion vector and the read frames. The reading means reads the two or more frames in a direction corresponding to the direction of the motion vector detected by the detection means.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of image quality that can occur when performing frame interpolation.SOLUTION: A frame interpolation apparatus 100 is supplied with a dynamic image from an image generating apparatus 300 that adds n (n is a natural number) copy frames subsequent to each frame of the dynamic image and has the number of frames increased to output them.       SOLUTION: In an interpolation frame generating method, a first motion vector from a first reference frame to a second reference frame is estimated by a motion estimation unit 101. An interpolation frame generating unit 102 assigns a pixel value and a second motion vector based on the first motion vector to generate an interpolation frame. An occlusion region generated in the interpolation frame is detected by an occlusion detection unit 103. An occlusion filtering unit 104 determines continuity of the occlusion region and a non-occlusion region, and assigns any one of the first and second reference frames to the occlusion region based on the second motion vector assigned to the non-occlusion region having continuity.
