    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a check processing system capable of discriminating whether a check is tampered or not in the middle of transferring to a server image information of the check read by a check processing device.
      SOLUTION: At a check processing device 10, magnetic character information read from a check 2 is embedded as an electronic watermark in image information of the check 2 read by the check processing device 10. The electronically watermarked image information and the magnetic character information are transmitted thereafter through a host computer 20 to a server 30. In a case where the image information is tampered at the host computer 20, the magnetic character information can not be extracted from the image information received by the server 30. Furthermore, even if the magnetic character information can be extracted, it becomes different from the magnetic character information being received by the server 30. Therefore, it can be discriminated whether image information is tampered or not.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading system capable of minimizing a consumption of storage areas and a network load and making articles to be read distinct.
      SOLUTION: The system comprises means of: obtaining image data from reading a document by a scanning function; creating positional information indicating an area of a particular article included in the image data; creating meta data including bibliographic information of the article, information identifying the article and the positional information; storing the thus-created meta data; delivering to a terminal at least the bibliographic information and the information identifying the article; delivering to the terminal the image data of the article in response to a request from the terminal; and carrying out display control of the article image based on the positional information when the meta data has the positional information of the article, while, when the meta data does not have the positional information, carries out display control of the article image as a result of obtaining the positional information from the information identifying the article.
