    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage device which cools a coil constituting a voice coil motor while suppressing vibration of the coil by using wind caused by rotation of a magnetic disk.
      SOLUTION: The information storage device includes: a magnetic disk 103 which is stored in a case 101 and rotated, a cartridge arm 106 holding a magnetic head 104 for recording information and reproducing information at a tip and moving the magnetic head 104 along a disk plane of the magnetic disk 103 by rotating around a rotation axis, a coil 112 fixed at a rear end of the cartridge arm 106, a permanent magnet 113 applying magnetic field to the coil 112, and an air flow regulator 108 positioned adjacently to the coil 112 at an upper stream side of wind caused by rotation of the magnetic disk 103 and regulating the wind flow on a rotated plane of the coil 112 along the coil 112.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium drive unit capable of surely returning to an optimal processing operation within a shortest time after application of shocks.
      SOLUTION: An acceleration detector 35 detects acceleration applied to a recording medium and a head slider. An index specifying the size of shock energy is derived from the detection result of the acceleration detector 35. A control circuit 47 retreats the head slider from the recording medium based on the detection result of the acceleration detector. After the retreating, the control circuit 47 selectively performs one or more processing operations among a plurality of kinds of processing operations based on the index. The processing operations after the retreating are limited to a necessary minimum. As a result, as compared with a case where processing operations are commonly performed after retreating irrespective of the size of shock energy, the time of the processing operations, i.e., recovery processing, after the retreating, is shortened.

The first guide is formed with a leaf spring and urges the elevating and holding member toward the second guide.
