    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulb type fluorescent lamp which can increase a discharge path in length, can form a narrow base, and can eliminate brightness variation, as well as to provide a lighting apparatus using such a bulb type fluorescent lamp.
      SOLUTION: The bulb type fluorescent lamp includes a mouthpiece 1, a holder 3 provided on the mouthpiece, and an arc tube 4 consisting of a bulb 4d having a pair of electrodes 4q and 4r supported by the holder. The bulb comprises a spiral form 4a, a pair of short discharge paths 4b and 4c each of which is connected with the spiral form and has a discharge path shorter than that of the spiral form, and a connection 4j which is arranged at the holder side of the spiral form and is connected with at least one of the pair of short discharge path parts; and a lighting device 5 attached to the holder.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact-ballasted fluorescent lamp and a lighting fixture wherein light-emitting efficiency and illumination intensity directly under the light can be enhanced, while having external diameters of the same size as the general incandescent bulbs without shortening the length of the discharge passage.
      SOLUTION: When the external diameter of a straight tube is D, the external diameter of a bent part is d, a glass tube with the outside diameter of 7 to 8.9 mm is bent so that it is 0.5≤d/D≤0.8, and when the wall thickness is t, so that it is 0.08≤t/D≤0.12, at least three or more of U shaped bent bulbs with a maximum bulb height of 40 to 70 mm are installed in juxtaposition with each end part on the circumference, and U shaped faces are mutually in parallel, then a discharge path of 340 to 400 mm is formed with a coupling tube, while total beam flux is 400 to 900 lm or more when the light emitting tube is lit with 7 to 11.5 W, and furthermore, the height including the base is 109 mm or less in the case of the lamp corresponding to the incandescent lamp of 60 W, and 98 mm or less in the case of lamp corresponding to 40 W.
