CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 21 controls the temperature of a base 3 to the set temperature by controlling the electrification of a heater 2 while controlling a heater driving circuit 24 based on temperature set information from a temperature setting part 22 and base temperature detection information from a temperature detector 6. On the other hand, the microprocessor 21 drives an electromagnetic pump 8 by controlling a pump driving circuit 20 based on steam selection information from a steam selection part 23. Even when the set temperature due to the temperature setting part 22 is switched for switching the base temperature, the operation selecting state of the electromagnetic pump 8 due to the steam selection part 23 is held and even when the set temperature is changed, the steam generation is continued as it is.

    • PURPOSE:To continuously jet steam without stopping a motor-driven pump even though an iron body is slightly moved back and forth during ironing. CONSTITUTION:This steam ion comprising a status detecting means adapted to be turned on or off in accordance with a motion of a steam iron body, for detecting the posture of the iron body which is either a horizontal posture or a self-standing posture, pump control means for controlling a motor-driven pump in accordance with a detection signal from the status detecting means. The pump control means stops the motor-driven pump when the status detecting means continuously delivers a turn-off signal, but operated the same when the status detecting means continuously delivers a turn-on signal. The status detecting means is energized when the iron body is moved back and forth in its horizontal posture so as to drive the motor-driven pump if the turn-off time is below a time T1 (0.5sec), but whether the status detecting means delivers a turn-on signal or not during the time from the time T1 to a time T2 is determined if the turn-off time exceeds the time T1. Accordingly, the drive of the motor-driven pump is stopped only when no turn-on signal is delivered.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a steam iron which can always operate properly an electro- magnetic pump by suppressing the influence caused by heat of a base, and also, can obtain a quiet use sensation by suppressing the propagation of vibration when the electromagnetic pump is operated. CONSTITUTION:The steam iron is provided with an iron main body 1 provided with a base 2 and water tank 16, a water passing joint 9 having an inflow part 12 which is provided in the upper part of the base 2 and communicates with the inside of the water tank 16 and an outflow part 13 for communicating with the inside of a vaporizing chamber 7 of the base, and an electromagnetic 29 which is attached onto this water passing joint 9, absorbs water in the inflow part, and also, discharges it into the outflow part 13. Also, in this steam iron for leading water discharged into the outflow part 13 by the electromagnetic pump 29 into the vaporizing chamber 7, vaporizing this water to steam by heat of the base 2, and blowing out this steam from the lower face of the base, the electromagnetic pump 29 is arranged vertically on the water passing joint 9, and also, between this electro-magnetic pump 29 and the water passing joint 9, elastic materials 31, 32 are interposed, and in such a state, the electromagnetic pump 29 is attached to the water passing joint 9.
