    • PURPOSE:To make it needless to mount a detection probe so that it can freely rotate, to unnecessitate a special driving source and to reduce a cost by providing the detection probe obtained by integrating a detection part with a power supply part on one end part of a photosensitive drum. CONSTITUTION:The detection probe 45 consisting of the power supply part 70 and the detection part 71 which are integrally molded with synthetic resin is fitted on one end part of the photosensitive drum 21, that means, out of the image forming area of the drum 21. Reflectance is raised on the surface of the probe 45 by vapor-depositing Cr and the flow of toner from the detection part 71 to the power supply part 70 is specified by making the outer diameter of the detection part 71 small. With such a constitution, the probe 45 can be driven to be rotated with the rotation of the drum 21, so that it is needless to turnably mount the probe 45 and to provide the driving source. Then the cost can be reduced. Moreover, the detection output of the toner density can be instantaneously stabilized.

    • PURPOSE:To carry out image transfer well with no need of mechanical precision by installing a transfer means consisting of a conductive brush member or a conductive platelike member. CONSTITUTION:A transfer apparatus is composed of a supporting part 15a made of, for example, a conductive metal and a brushlike transfer brush 15b obtained by bundling, in a plate shape, conductive fibers in proper density by the supporting part 15a. The transfer brush 15b is pressed to a photoconductor 1 by a spring 24 installed at the end part of the supporting part 15a while having a rotary axis 15d as a supporting point. The pressing pressure is adjusted by forcing a part of the brush supporting part 15a to hit a cam 25. The cam 25 is used as a contacting and parting means of the transfer brush 15b and the speed to bring the brush into contact with the photoconductor 1 is made slower than the speed to part the brush from the photoconductor in order to prevent a toner from scattering due to the means. Consequently, a transfer apparatus can be obtained, while having a simple structure, producing little ozone, and being able to carry out image transfer with no need of mechanical precision.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality image and to prevent the image from being deteriorated even when a device is used for a long time by making the layer thickness of the conductive layer of a developing roller larger than the particle diameter of toner. CONSTITUTION:In a contact type one component non-magnetic developing device, the developing roller 109 is constituted of a metallic shaft 109a, an elastic layer 109b formed on the shaft 109a and a conductive layer 109c. When the layer thickness of the conductive layer is smaller than the particle diameter of the toner used, a load applied to a toner layer forming blade must be made large in order to obtain the excellent image, and the load applied to the developing roller is large. Therefore, stress is caused in the conductive layer, the peeling of the conductive layer occurs because of the stress, and durability is not obtained. By setting the layer thickness of the conductive layer at a value larger than the particle diameter of the toner, the excellent image is obtained and such a state is maintained for a long time.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent image without stain by providing a means which executes non-patterning by sliding and making an electrical conductive brush into contact with a photosensitive drum under a state that a voltage is impressed on a developer left on the photosensitive drum without being transferred and a means which carries a copying paper at prescribed intervals. CONSTITUTION:A toner layer formed on the photosensitive drum 2 whose diameter is about 30mm and whose one circumference is about 94mm is transferred on a paper P by a transfer roller 6. At that time, an interval between the trailing edge of the preceding paper and the leading edge of the following paper is set to be 100mm, for example, and the stain of the image is reduced by controlling a transffer bias so as to be turned off between them. Besides, a brush device 8 being as a non-patterning means is formed by the electrical conductive brush 8a and a holder 86 holding it and the brush 8a is arranged so that it is slided and brought into contact with the circumferential surface 2a of the drum 2 under the state that the voltage is impressed on it. Thus, the excellent image without stain is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To surely prevent toner from being accumulated in a toner image nonpatterning means and to prolong the life of the device by providing a mode wherein the toner accumulated in the transfer remaining nonpatterning member is discharged to an image carrier and applying an AC bias to the toner image nonpatterning means. CONSTITUTION:A toner image and an electrostatic latent image slightly remain on the surface of a photosensitive drum 1 after transfer and are carried to the transfer remaining toner nonpatterning means 2. A DC bias having the opposite polarity from the toner is applied to a brush 2a so as to attract the transfer remaining toner temporarily and inject charges. Much of toner attracted temporarily to the brush 2a resticks on a drum 1, but the rest of the toner can not restick and is accumulated in the brush 2a gradually. Consequently, discharging operation (discharge mode) for the toner accumulated in the brush 2a is performed during print start operation and/or end operation, etc. In this discharge mode, a DC bias is applied and then even toner entering the brush 2a deeply is discharged to reduce the accumulation in the brush 2a, thereby prolonging the life of the device.
